Las Vegas Giant Ball: The Perfect Combination of Technology and Art
2023-02-13
In the bustling area of Las Vegas, there is an eye-catching giant sphere building. It is 112 meters high and 157 meters wide at its widest point. This sphere designed by the star architecture company Populous is called Vegas Sphere. It took seven years to build and cost. As high as 2.3 billion US dollars (about 16.5 billion RMB), it is the largest sphere structure building in the world.
The original design sketch of Vegas Sphere had only a rough circle and a matchman in the middle. Seven years later, it became the world's largest spherical structure building and quickly became a new landmark in Las Vegas. During the day, this "Ma Tuan"-like ball looks dark and incompatible with the surrounding scenery. At night, when the lights flash, Vegas Sphere begins to release its unique brilliance and charm. It can turn into various forms such as "Sauron's Eye", huge basketball, and funny southern lights, which is amazing.
The many faces of this sphere are due to the surface-covered LED screen-Exosphere. In order to achieve a "full screen" effect, Exosphere covers 1.2 million ultra-high resolution LED light sources and a programmed dynamic display image system. The pixels can reach 19,000 x 13,500. Even if the audience stands 150 meters away, they can see clear dynamic images. But because it has been complained about, it will change to low-brightness mode between 0-6 o'clock in summer and 0-7 o'clock in winter. But at other times, Vegas Sphere is the brightest star in this city that never sleeps.
The outdoor effect is so exciting, and the interior design is full of expectations. The venue is designed to have 17500 seats and a center stage. Surrounding the above and behind the stage is the world's largest high-definition display screen. Currently, the giant ball is open to the public, and tourists can buy tickets to experience the impact of technology for themselves. As soon as you enter the door, you will be greeted by the humanoid robot Aura. As it browses the inside of the giant ball, visitors can also watch the immersive movie "Postcard from Earth" specially produced by famous director Darren Aronofsky.
