Inha University's blue OLED luminous efficiency sets a new record, reaching 29%

Inha University recently announced that Professor Li Zhenghuan's research team from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering has recently developed blue-emitting OLED materials and devices with high color purity and high efficiency.

Professor Jeong-Hwan Lee achieved the results through joint research with doctoral students at the Optoelectronics Devices Laboratory at Al-Amin Inha University and the research team of Professor Lee Min-Hyung at Ulsan University.

The research team explained that they have developed a high-quality dark blue OLED device with a maximum external luminescent efficiency of 29%, an emission spectral peak of 462 nanometers (nm), and an emission half-width of less than 30 nm.

The results of this research can be applied to next-generation display panels, providing vivid images by expanding the range of colors that can be expressed in the color space CIE1931 (the standard colorimetric system established by the International Commission on Illumination in 1931), which can be used to develop long-life blue devices based on high efficiency.

The paper based on the results of this research is a high-efficiency dark blue organic light-emitting device based on the fusion of multiple resonance thermally activated delayed phosphors and chromenes with reduced right-hand energy transfer. It was recognized for its scientific importance and was published in "Angewante Chemi". The best academic journal in the field of Materials and Chemistry, published in the August issue of Angewandte Chemie International Edition, IF=16.6).
