According to official news released by Zhangjiagang, on November 27, 2025, the LED project with a total investment of 2 billion yuan by BOE Huacan Optoelectronics (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. was officially put into operation in Zhangjiagang Economic Development Zone. This commissioning is not only a key step for BOE Huacan to deepen its high-end strategy of MLED, but also focuses on high value-added areas such as car displays and plant lighting. It aims to strengthen the independent controllability of the supply chain in the market segment and provide the company's production capacity scale and profitability. Double improvements in the level inject strong impetus.

As an important base for BOE Huacan to lay out LED core manufacturing, this Zhangjiagang production project is clearly positioned to create an LED extension and chip manufacturing highland with full-color and full-product independent supporting capabilities. Through dual optimization of technical transformation and production line reconstruction, the base's monthly production capacity will achieve a leapfrog increase: it is expected to increase to nearly 500,000 units, an increase of more than 70% compared with the pre-expansion period. The release of production capacity will directly drive the upgrading of operating efficiency. According to estimates, after the project is put into operation, the annual output value is expected to increase by more than 50%, and the production efficiency will simultaneously increase by 20%. At the same time, more than 300 new jobs will be created, achieving a two-way positive effect between industrial development and employment.
From the perspective of business layout, this project accurately locks high-growth tracks, especially in response to the urgent demand for high-reliability chips in the in-vehicle display field, further strengthening BOE Huacan's supply capabilities in the field of mid-to-high-end LED chips. Currently, with the rapid iteration of smart cockpit and in-vehicle display technology, the market demand for high-quality LED chips continues to rise, and plant lighting, as another high value-added segment, is also ushering in large-scale development opportunities. BOE Huacan focuses on two major tracks this time, which will effectively optimize the product structure, increase the proportion of high-end product revenue, and consolidate its industry position as the second largest LED chip supplier in China.
At the level of production capacity coordination, BOE Huacan has built an industrial pattern of differentiated division of labor in multiple bases: Zhangjiagang base and Yiwu base complement each other, jointly undertaking the core production tasks of LED epitaxial wafers and chips, consolidating basic manufacturing capacity; while Zhuhai base focuses on the industrialization breakthrough of Micro LED cutting-edge technologies and focusing on high-end innovation areas. This layout model of basic production capacity + cutting-edge innovation not only ensures stable supply in the current market, but also lays the foundation for future technological leadership.
In fact, since 2025, BOE Huacan has accelerated the pace of MLED production capacity integration. In March this year, the Zhuhai Micro LED factory took the lead in achieving stable delivery of 6-inch wafers and pixel devices, laying the core device foundation for the subsequent implementation of high-end application scenarios such as AR glasses and smart lights. According to the company's plan, by the end of 2025, the Zhuhai base will have a comprehensive production capacity of 1000 sets of RGB wafers and 250 billion pixel devices per month, building a complete Micro LED industry chain system covering epitaxial growth, chip preparation to module integration. The commissioning of the Zhangjiagang project coincides with the strategy of the Zhuhai base. The former strengthens the supply of mature mid-to-high-end production capacity, while the latter strives for the industrialization of cutting-edge technologies and jointly promotes the comprehensive implementation of BOE Huacan's MLED strategy.
It is noteworthy that BOE Huacan has achieved independent matching of key materials such as sapphire substrates and PSS patterned substrates through subsidiaries such as Yunnan Blue Crystal and Zhejiang Jingtu, strengthening its vertical integration capabilities. The commissioning of the Zhangjiagang project will further improve the company's industrial closed-loop from core materials to chip manufacturing, and improve the supply chain's risk resistance and cost control level. Against the background of the continuous release of demand for application scenarios such as in-vehicle displays and commercial displays, BOE Huacan's production capacity expansion and technical layout will not only help it seize market opportunities, but will also provide core support for the independent development of the domestic MLED industry chain. Promote the industry to accelerate its move towards high-end and large-scale.
