Sapien Semiconductor: Business expansion and contract upgrades drive development

Recently, Sapien Semiconductor announced its revenue. Data shows that the company's sales last year reached 8 billion won (equivalent to approximately 40 million yuan). Although it is still in an operating loss, with a loss of 3.3 billion won, it is worth noting that sales have increased significantly year-on-year by 149%, and the loss has narrowed. Among various businesses, Micro LED-related orders have doubled.

Back in August last year, Sapien Semiconductor reached a cooperation with a large American technology company and signed a joint development and supply contract for display driver chips. The contract size reaches 4.8 billion won (approximately RMB 24 million), and the contract period was originally scheduled to end on October 31 this year. However, on March 14, Sapien Semiconductor announced a major adjustment to the contract in response to demand from the large U.S. technology company. The contract size has increased significantly to 9.5 billion won (approximately RMB 47 million), almost double the size of last year, and the contract period has also been extended to May 27 next year. Regarding the change to this contract, Sapien Semiconductor explained: With the deepening of joint development work, the partners 'requirements for product performance continue to increase. In addition, the scope of cooperation has expanded from pure research and development to mass production, so the contract amount has also increased accordingly. quot; Although Sapien Semiconductor did not explicitly disclose the specific information of the signatories, the company has unique business expertise in the industry. It focuses on the design and manufacture of DDIC chipsets for driving very large and large display panels, as well as Micro-LED CMOS backplane products for ultra-small display engines. Currently, the company is actively designing products for the application scenarios of third-generation AR/VR device displays to meet the market demand for emerging display technologies.
It is reported that Sapien Semiconductor has made important progress in product development, and the new generation of products it is fully developing has attracted much attention. The product's target resolution is set to 4VGA (1280 960). Compared with the previous resolution level of 640 480, both horizontal and vertical resolutions have been significantly improved by twice.
