On December 3, 2025, according to South Korean media The elec, Apple has finalized the oled panel supply plan for the new generation of entry-level iPhone 17e. Among them, BOE has successfully captured most of the order share, and the rest is expected to be shared by Samsung Display and LG Display. This order allocation result continues the supply pattern of OLED screens for Apple's entry-level models and once again confirms BOE's core position in Apple's supply chain.
Reports revealed that Apple plans to complete shipment of approximately 8 million iPhone 17e units in the first half of 2026. Judging from industry practice, when Apple launches entry-level iPhone SE or iPhone e series models, shipments in the first year usually stabilize at around 20 million units. The core competitive strategy of this type of entry-level model is component reuse + core upgrade: using mature components that have been mass-produced before to control costs, while equipped with the latest processors to improve performance experience, so as to compete with other brands in the low-and middle-price market. Brand products compete.
It is worth noting that this time BOE won most of the iPhone 17e screen supply orders, which is a recognition of its iPhone 16e supply performance. The first supplier of OLED panels for the iPhone 16e released earlier this year is BOE, while Samsung Display and LG Display rank second and third respectively. It is reported that the OLED screen equipped with the iPhone 16e adopts the same specifications as the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 standard version released in 2022; the industry generally predicts that the iPhone 17e will continue to use this mature screen solution and will also achieve breakthroughs in design. Further reduce the screen border to enhance the visual experience of the whole machine.

At the core screen technology level, the iPhone 17e will continue the configuration of the iPhone 16e, using low-temperature polysilicon (LTPS)TFT technology. Although this technical specification is lower than the LTPO technology used in high-end models (which enables adaptive refresh rate adjustment), it is enough to meet the daily use needs of entry-level models while effectively balancing cost and performance. This choice is also in line with Apple's technical gradient planning for models at different price points, avoiding direct competition between entry-level products and high-end models.
Judging from historical shipment data, BOE's share of Apple's OLED screen supply chain is steadily increasing. In 2024, BOE will supply approximately 40 million iPhone OLED screens to Apple, covering multiple models of new and old models. In 2024, the total shipments of iPhone OLED panels will be between 230 million and 240 million. Excluding BOE's supply, the remaining share will be divided between Samsung Display and LG Display. Among them, Samsung Display still dominates, with shipments of approximately 120 million to 130 million units;LG Display ranks second with shipments of approximately 70 million units.
The screen supply pattern of the iPhone 17e this time also reflects the strategic transformation of Apple's entry-level models. Prior to this, Apple launched the iPhone SE series entry models with liquid crystal displays (LCD) in 2016, 2020 and 2022. It was not until 2025 that Apple made major adjustments to the series: it adopted OLED panels for the first time and changed the model name to the iPhone 16e. After the launch of the iPhone 16e, Apple chose to continue to launch the iPhone 17e in 2026. The core goal is to maintain the overall iPhone shipment scale through entry-level OLED models, while further expanding the user base and accumulating more market data to provide support for subsequent product iterations.
For BOE, continuously winning most OLED orders for iPhone 16e and iPhone 17e is not only a strong proof of its technical strength, but will also further consolidate its position in the global small size OLED market. Combined with previous data from third-party organizations, although Samsung still ranks first in the ranking of size OLED shipments, BOE has firmly ranked second and its share continues to increase. As Apple's entry-level models fully switch to OLED, BOE is expected to take advantage of this supply chain to achieve double breakthroughs in shipments and market influence.
