Three years later, in 2026, organic light-emitting diode (oled) TV shipments will exceed 10 million units, accounting for more than 15% of the total TV market sales. The global TV market is expected to stagnate at around 200 million units per year during this period, but the size of OLED TVs will continue to expand.

According to market research firm Omdia, OLED TVs shipped in the global TV market last year of 6.51 million units will exceed 7.41 million units this year, continuing to grow every year and are expected to increase to 10.54 million units in 2026.

Since OLED TV shipments were first counted at 4400 units in 2013, they have increased by about 1500 times in the past 10 years. In the next three years, it is expected to supply more than 10 million units every year, dominating the high-end TV market.

Compared with liquid crystal display (LCD) TVs, the proportion of sales of relatively expensive OLED TVs will expand from 10.8% last year to 15.5% in 2026. Based on 2026, although shipments are about 5%, the price is higher.

As the OLED TV market is expected to grow, TV manufacturers such as Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, which are mired in sluggish demand, are more aggressively capturing the OLED TV market this year than ever.

LG Electronics plans to expand the proportion of OLEDs in the business to more than 35% based on the new TV products launched this year. LG Electronics has a variety of shapes and the industry's largest lineup of 40 to 90 inches. Based on brightness improvement technology, using third-generation panels that are 70% brighter and clearer than before is also a weapon. LG Electronics will expand the viewing experience for personal customers based on highly sophisticated hardware.

Samsung Electronics, which has re-entered the OLED TV market, is expected to expand its shipments as the yield of quantum dot (QD)-OLED panels rises to 90%. The industry believes that Samsung Electronics 'OLED TV shipments are expected to expand to 2 million units by next year. If the cooperation between Samsung Electronics and LG Display is successful, it may be even bigger than this. Samsung Electronics OLED TVs are equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) processors that maintain the advantages of the panel while improving the brightness areas that are cited as limitations.

With the marketability of OLED TVs, in addition to LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics, overseas companies have also joined in on a large scale. It is expected that a total of 22 brands, including Sony and TCL, will compete.
