Recently, French display developer Aledia claimed to have made a new breakthrough and successfully manufactured a new Micro LED device smaller than 1.5 microns.
Aledia's new Micro LED (<1.5μ m) has an external quantum efficiency (EQE) exceeding 32%, achieving a 99% DCI-P3 color gamut, and capable of achieving a power conversion efficiency (WPE) of 320 milliwatts per watt of visible light output. It is reported that high EQE means that more electricity can be converted into visible light, which can reduce energy consumption and extend the life of equipment batteries.
Aledia pointed out that the technology has made improvements in native RGB directionality and pixel size reduction, and is changing the augmented reality (AR) experience. By reducing the pixel size to 2 microns, the resolution and compactness of Micro LED displays can be greatly improved.
You know, Aledia is a developer and manufacturer focusing on next-generation advanced display applications. It was spun off from the CEA-Leti Laboratory, a leading research institution in Micro and Nanotechnology in France, and has always been committed to the research and development of 3D structure GaN Micro LED technology. work.
In the past two years, Aledia's R & D and financing speed in the Micro LED business has continued to accelerate.
In 2023, Aledia completed a new round of financing and successfully raised 120 million euros to promote mass production of Micro LED products; and in 2022, Aledia received a financing line of US$30 million from Trinity Capital. These funds were used to expand the Micro LED nanowire technology manufacturing plant, and also reached a cooperation with QustomDot to jointly develop full-color Micro LED displays.
In addition, Aledia is also developing a 6500ppi (2μ m sub-pixel) single-chip RGB array towards AR applications, and the project is in the development stage.
